Most people call him 'The Mac Guy' but i have had an appreciation for JL since the too short and most excellent show 'Ed' where he played the oh so lovable geek Warren, too often was he overlooked by the fans for Phil or of course by the awesome $10 bets. I loved him then and i love him now. In the last few years he popped up in Herbie (forgivable), Waiting- very, very funny despite the crudeness, i can't help but love the line 'you think you're the coolest guy at shenanigans, that's like being the smartest kid with down sydrome' So politically incorrect, but you can't help but giggle. After that i must say he was so cute in Accepted which starred Jonah Hill before he was JONAH HILL, such great quotes abound; i hope you have hobo stab insurance. JL romanced Blake Lively pre GG and i was envious of her then... You kind of wanted to just hug him in Dodgeball and seriously he MADE Die Hard 4 with his little quips.
The reason i am on this JL kick is due to THAT movie- He's Just Not That Into You, i'm in Oz and it was only released 2 days ago, i saw it last night. It surprised in more ways than one..
1) I didn't hate Ben Affleck or Scarlet Johanssen, in fact i dare say i liked them when i usually don't. BA is only ever good inn Kevin Smith movies and SJ i'm just annoyed at for snagging Ryan Reynolds.
2) Ginnifer Goodwin was adorable and totally believable as this too innocent little girl- weird after 3 seasons of third wife Marjorie in Big Love!
3) JL was believable as the all knowing yet not entirely sleazy know it all Alex. Plus most if not all of the movies LOL moments came from him advising GG on whether to bail or stay on her dates.
So after this w/e once i have my Jensen Ackles fix i will move on the the lovable Mac guy who is not overtly sexy but it adorable and funny. I really need Ed on DVD....
Dude, I still call him "Warren" I don't care that he's "The Mac Guy" or that he's been in like a thousand things since Ed ended. He is Warren Cheswick.
ReplyDeleteGood call on Affleck, however I would amend that statement to say "Only good in Kevin Smith's movies and also movies that he wrote." (Good Will Hunting)
